One simple renovation that can make a big impact on energy costs, not to mention the environment and a home’s décor, is updating light fixtures and bulbs with more energy-efficient models, namely Energy Star-qualified products.
According to energystar.gov, when used along with energy-efficient light bulbs, Energy Star light fixtures “use about 75 percent less energy and produce about 75 percent less heat than standard incandescent lighting.” Also, simply replacing a home’s five most frequently used lights can save up to $70 a year in electricity costs."
