Energy Saving Light Bulbs Fatten Your Wallet!

Energy saving light bulbs can really fatten your wallet when used in place of traditional lighting options. Energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs and tube fluorescent light bulbs, while slightly pricier than some of the other options, save you money and provide high quality, efficient light for you home. They are also made to last several times longer than a regular incandescent bulb. Plus now there are CFL’s that come equipped with dimmers and run very similar to incandescent bulbs, so there is really no reason not to use them.

Here are a few ideas when using energy saving light bulbs. First of all, look for the Energy Star label when you are buying energy saving light bulbs. Also, a good rule is to make sure to flip off all your lights if you aren’t in the room. Hard for you to remember to do that? Try putting in timers for each room.

Use 3 way lamps. That way you can use lower light levels when needed, instead of gobbling up more power by running bright lights all the time. One simple tip is to utilize as much daylight as possible. Loose, light colored curtains that let light into your home can help brighten a room and still maintain privacy.

Task lighting could also be a good option for your home. That way you can focus energy saving light bulbs in just the area they are most needed, rather than lighting up a whole room. Four watt mini fluorescent light bulbs are also a great option. Or you could use electro luminescent night light, which as a bonus is cool to the touch.

Energy saving light bulbs only consume roughly a third of the energy as a regular bulb. You can even consider options like the very bright halogen light bulbs. Halogen use the same amount of energy a regular bulb, but produce 50% more light. However, they tend to run quite hot, so it is best to be careful with these, and possibly limit them the garage, or outdoor porch lights.

However, fluorescent bulbs can work just as well as halogens outside. Some are even made that burn so brightly they mimic sunlight. Another plus is that fluorescents come in varied colors, if you want to use colored lighting.

There are so many types of energy saving light bulbs now available, it can get your head spinning. One of the more popular out door types are outdoor and bug away light bulbs. They discourage bugs rather than zapping them, and have a shatter resistant, translucent cover.

There are also energy saving light bulbs called candle lamps, bulbs called decorative twisters, globes, universal 3 ways, and reflector floods. Using energy saving light bulbs is really becoming a no brainer, as they have been proven to save you money in the long run, there by keeping your wallet fat and sassy!
