Green Technology Lighting
Universal Display Corp is exhibiting environmental and alternative energy technologies at PepCom's EcoFocus in New York. The event features a wide range of current green products, services and eco-friendly initiatives. The company plans to showcase lighting products and share technical information on environmental benefits.
'Energy efficiency and eco-friendliness are at the core of our proprietary PHOLED technology,' Steven V. Abramson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Display, said in a statement.
Green products for lighting are a growing demand which the company also sees as a benefit for the environment. Eco-friendly products also offer energy cost savings for consumers and businesses. Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are helping to decrease energy demand, but the presence of mercury and related waste disposal issues have raised concerns. While these products are one type of solution, they create an offset for the environment.
Alternative Energy PHOLED Green Technology
Universal Display's wrist-worn and flexible PHOLED display was developed jointly with LG Display and L-3 Communications for the U.S. Department of Defense. The company will showcase a scaled white PHOLED lighting atrium, transparent PHOLED pixels, and commercial products that currently use Universal Display's PHOLED technology. The PHOLED technology meets the needs for a technology that is green throughout its product life cycle."
