Indian companies are keen to invest in energy efficient measures to save the energy cost by 33 per cent, reveals a survey conducted by Johnson Controls across six major cities in India.

Mentioning that the Indian corporates are more keen to apply energy efficient methods compared to the North American corporates, Mr Manoj Raathor, the programme director of Johnson Controls, said: “About 83 per cent corporates would be spending 10 per cent of their total capex on energy efficient measures this fiscal.

About 30 per cent of corporates responded that the energy expenses are about five per cent of their total expenses.” Going forward, he said energy would become costlier and the corporates will have to be energy efficient to reduce expenses.

Mr Raathor added that many corporates such as Wipro, Infosys and the K.Raheja Group have started investing in different sets of energy efficiency measures. Educating the staff to avoid wastage of the energy, installing the energy usage monitoring mechanism to reduce the wastage of energy and the installation of energy efficient equipment are important measures to save energy.

Mr Shabbir Kanchwala, vice-president, project coordination of K. Raheja Group, said: “We are implementing the energy efficiency measures. We expect to save 33 per cent energy in terms of units which translates to Rs 2 crore in the next three years.”
