When Global Warmists Finally Went Nuts: Part 2

Now, it is the USA's turn to go insane.

It's bad enough that the People's Congress has passed one of the largest tax increasing, anti-business bill in the history of mankind, but are at the same time claiming that without it our planet will be consumed in the heat of man's exhalations. But now, The One Pres Obamassiah (pbuh) has come out to claim that he will save the world once again.

Except... this time he will save the future.

'I know light bulbs may not seem sexy, but this simple action holds enormous promise because 7 percent of all the energy consumed in America is used to light our homes and businesses,' the president said, standing alongside Energy Secretary Steven Chu at the White House.

Obama said the new efficiency standards he was announcing for lamps would result in substantial savings between 2012 and 2042, saving consumers up to 4 billion annually, conserving enough energy to power every U.S. home for 10 months, reducing emissions equal to the amount produced by 166 cars a year, and eliminating the need for as many as 14 coal-fired power plants.

So, the simple act of setting standards will lead to the reduced need of 14 coal-fired plants by 2042.

Ok?

I thought we were going to be coal-free by then? I thought the elimination of all regular bulbs by 2012 was also supposed to save the day. Is he now saying that the mandatory switch to CFL bulbs WILL NOT save the atmosphere?!??!

Is all of this CFL bulb push all for nothing? I thought the CFL bulbs were the cream of the crop of energy efficiency. What else can they do to IMPOSE energy efficiency upon us? I mean, wasn't it the stimulus bill and subsidization that created the CFL in the first place? (cough)

Seriously. are the media that celebrity-blinded that they can't see that all of this is pure hype? Will changing the standards of CFL bulbs really save our future enough to power EVERY SINGLE house in this nation for 10 months!?!? Take all the smog, particulates, and 'greenhouse' gases from nearly 5,000 cars out of the atmosphere? I thought solar and wind power were supposed to be clean? Then how can you compare the the savings from the emissions from cars to the reduction in the power produced by solar and wind generation. Aren't we going to be mandated to be energy independent through alternative energies by that time?

And what are these new standards? Anyone bother to ask? How much light can you produce with one watt?

And so what if 7% of all our energy is spent in lightbulbs. Light means safety. Light means comfort. How many of you have kept your dog alive during hard winter moths by placing a simple lightbulb in the dog house?

If the energy is being paid for, and that money is going back in to build and maintain power generation facilities, then what is the problem?

If this nation decides on a course of action that removes hydroelectric dams, removes coal-fired plants, prevents the construction of nuclear-powered plants, then what have you got left? Solar, Natural Gas and Wind. There isn't enough of that around or space to build to supply us with power now, let alone by 2042. We already import Natural Gas\propane in to this country.

There just isn't enough less-efficient energy sources out there, and places to build their collectors, to compensate for the loss of all the highly-efficient energy, and their facilities, that the greenies love to hate.

So, The One Pres Obamassiah (pbuh) believes that by hyping new standards, that he can save our future. If anyone could, he can. He is the messiah.

PS: Now, what I would be interested in, would be these things. Problem is, bulbs like this are $60-$100 each. Some are upwards to $200 each. Hmmm.. let's see. $0.50 for a 4 pack of bulbs or one bulb for an avg of $75.

I guess it is time for government to bail out the LED industry and subsidize their bulb factories. Those workers are facing the loss of their jobs if we don't buy their $200 bulbs."
