Swap Incandescent Light Bulbs with LEDs for Lowering Energy Bills | TopNews United States

There are different ways that consumers can lower their energy bills. The easiest way is to exchange inefficientincandescent light bulbs with the better technology offered by LEDs. The new Smart LED bulb by GE consumes less energy and comes with a fat price tag.

The US will prefer more energy efficient compact florescent and LED bulbs to incandescent light bulbs. CFLs, though are widely used by people, they have a shorter lifespan than LEDs.

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs consume 75% less energy than the classicincandescent light bulbs used in home. The smart LED bulb by GE is an energy saving replacement for a traditional 40-watt bulb. It will work three times longer than a CFL.

John Strainic of GE Lighting said, “This is a bulb that can virtually light your kid's bedroom desk lamp from birth through high school graduation”.

According to what the company revealed, the bulb uses nine watts in a standard socket. LEDs are handy for flashlights, as they shoot out light in one direction. The design of the bulbs has made them omnidirectional.
