Green sex guide

Green sex guide

Here's some good news for eco-friendly couples: You can enjoy sex and also help save the planet, says Stefanie Weiss who has come up with an eco-sex guide.

Some of the tips in the eco-guide are:

- Having sex on a natural latex mattress : Not only it's more eco- friendly than one made of springs and synthetic material, it's also less bouncy.

- Biodegradable, fair-trade condoms

- Organic aphrodisiacs : The list for women includes avocado and chocolate, while the basil, bay leaf and cinnamon are for blokes.

'In Eco-Sex: Go Green Between the Sheets and Make Your Love Life Sustainable,' author Weiss insists "eco-sex can be great sex, without any loss of pleasure", reports The News of the World.

She warns: "Prophylactics (that's condoms to you) often get tossed in the toilet after use, where they soon make their way into the sewers and then the water system or ocean."

Condoms made of polyurethane, a plastic, do not break down at all, while even biodegradable types take years to break down in water.

The guide also features aphrodisiac recipes by raw-food chef Sarma Melngailis.

Environmentalist Weiss said: "I think green sex is having its moment. People realise this everyday, most intimate habits, are connected to this crisis we are in."

She added, "It was the most fun I have ever had researching a book in my life."
